The strength of Meals on Wheels (SA) Inc. comes from the 10,000 volunteers from 100 branches throughout South Australia who prepare, cook and deliver meals to over 5,000 clients each weekday at lunch time. Volunteers serve as cooks, kitchen helpers, drivers and deliverers, with most offering their services on a fortnightly basis.
We always need more volunteers to help maintain our level of service and to meet increasing demand. New volunteers enable us to replace those who retire through age, ill health or other reasons.
The special camaraderie in our branches ensures that volunteers thoroughly enjoy themselves in the company of like-minded people while providing an important service to the community. Our volunteers also enjoy meeting clients and knowing that they are brightening up their day as well as checking on their general well-being.
