Nigel Rollbusch has been a successful butcher for 23 years, of which, the last two and half have been in the Waikerie area.

During the 50 Millionth Meal celebrations last year, he swapped his apron for the hi-vis delivery vest. The Waikerie branch was looking for a guest delivery driver. Shirley Mudge, Chair of Waikerie Branch, asked if Nigel wanted to join. He agreed.

After his guest appearance, Nigel continued on as a volunteer! He loved the experience and enjoyed getting to know more about the customers and Waikierie.

Nigel believes the best part about delivering is meeting new people and having a chinwag with them. To Nigel, “Meals on Wheels is an excellent service which many people would be lost without”. Nigel’s advice to individuals considering volunteering is to “Just do it”. He has gained knowledge of the community, Waikerie and it’s people, since volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

He thinks that anybody who wants to volunteer should do it, because if someone was to be without meals, it would be horrible.
